TURNER CONTEMPORARY ART GALLERY, MARGATE
THE GRANGE, RAMSGATE

Wednesday 10 April 2019

A visit to The Turner Contemporary in Margate, one of the UK’s leading art galleries, the title commemorating the association of the town with the famous landscape painter J.M.Turner who went to school in Margate and was a frequent visitor. This is followed by a visit to The Grange in Ramsgate, designed and lived in by Augustus Pugin.    The house has a private chapel and a tower where Pugin trained his telescope for ships in distress.   It was here that Pugin designed the interior of the Palace of Westminster, the Clock Tower of Big Ben and St. Augustine’s Church next to The Grange.
